Mads Christian Hansen

Mads Christian Hansen was born in Aalborg 18th of September 1855, christened in Budolfi Church 21th of October 1855, as son of unmarried Martine Gunild Strett and alleged father of the child dragon Anders Hansen of Øster Nebelstrup.
Witnesses were: Ane Jensine Strett (mothers sister), Petrea Gregersen, Anders Christensen, Jørgen (?) Nielsen and Lars Hansen all in Aalborg.
Note: The mother 26 years old, on the day 10 month before the birth of the child served at grocer Herskind, Østervraae.

In 1869 he was confirmed in Vor Frue Church as number 20 with the grades mg both in knowledge and behaviour.

Mads Christian Hansen probably had no education and consequently he had work where work was obtainable. He is trying as a milljourneyman, working on a slaugterhouse, workman and retailer.

Milljourneyman Mads Christian Hansen, batchelor of the manufactory of Gudumholm was married in Hvorup Church 6th of June 1883 with the girl Birgitte Nielsen of Hvorup Kjær.
The man who gave the bride away and the best man was: railwayman Niels Nielsen of Hvorup and Workman Anders Hansen of Aalborg (the fathers of them both).

The bride was highly pregnant and it looks that Mads worked as a milljourneyman on the manufactory of Gudumholm. Their first child Anders was born in Hvorup, but the two next both were born in Gudumlund. The little family moved to Kayerødsgade 21 in Aalborg about 1888 and they stayed in the city the rest of their days.
At the census 1891 they still were in Kayerødsgade, in 1892 at the birth of Ester they are living in Niels Ebbesensgade 31, in 1894 at the birth of Edvard in Mortensgade 10 and at the birth of Margrete in 1896 they had moved to Hadsundvej 50.
For certain they lived there until 1902 and finally at the birth of Helga in 1905 they lived Østerbro 50.

There they run a little grocershop, but it was not better than Mads had to work somewhere else, and at the same time wife and children had to take care of the shop.
One still is able to see the shop on Østerbro 50 - however it has for many years been closed down.

Mads Christian died the 11th of December 1921 in the home on Østerbro in Aalborg as a former worker on a slaughterhouse and a former retailer, 66 years old, and he was berried from Vor Frue Church on Aalborg Almen Kirkegaard the 18th of December 1921.

Birgithe Nielsen

Birgithe Nielsen was born the 12th of June 1859 and christened in Gudum Church 18th of September 1859 as a daughter of Niels Nielsen and wife Nicoline Petrea Krebs.
Witnesses were: Teacher and church warden Johan Frantz Krebs and wife Dorthea Maria Jensen from Skivum (the parents of the mother), innkeeper Jens Christian Nielsen and wife Ane Dorthea Sørensen in Søndertranders (brother of the father) and Miller Nicolai Peter Krebs on Tiendegaards Mill (the brother of the mother).

Birgithe had her confirmation 20 of April 1873 in the church of Gudum as no. 4 with the marks "very good in knowledge", and her behaviour was moral. Besides her parents was mentioned foster-father Milltenant Nicolai Peter Krebs on the factory of Gudumlund and further she has had exemption - young age ?

The parents have moved to the parish of Sulsted, and for one reason or another she has stayed in Gudum and has probably been living at her fathers brother.
Luckily her servants conduct book still exist, which gives the opportunity to follow her movements as a maid after her confirmation to her marriage.
